Professional Artists Mentoring Youth

On the Go Artists Announced

Lead artists have been chosen for the 3rd CityArt On the Go traffic box mural installation. Each artist mentor will lead the mural project at every stage of development while working with local youth on this public art project.

The artist mentors are:

  • Julie Johnson-Fahrforth of Mankato, partnering with students from Dance Conservatory
  • Colleen Patterson of North Mankato, partnering with her two grandsons
  • Dana Sikkila of North Mankato, partnering with youth from The 410 Project
  • Amanda Wirig of Mankato, partnering with students from Kato Public Charter School.

Four locations have been determined in City Center Mankato on Broad Street and Second Street. Artists’ designs will be reviewed and approved by the CityArt Committee prior to installation, and the Committee will decide which design works best at each location. The four traffic signal cabinets will be completed throughout the summer with a deadline of September 22 for final installation.

Funding for this project is made possible through a grant from the City of Mankato and in-kind support from SignPro Mankato.
