The 2016 CityArt People’s Choice Award winning sculpture, Stand for the Flag by Lee Leuning and Sherri Treeby, will be dedicated at its permanent location in Veteran’s Memorial Place on Monday, May 29 at 8:30 a.m. The dedication will be hosted by the Mankato Area Memorial Squad.
Stand for the Flag depicts a Vietnam veteran who lost his leg at Da Nang standing and saluting the American flag as the parade honor guard approaches. It was displayed as part of the 2016 CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour exhibit and, having received the most People’s Choice votes, was purchased by the CityArt program for permanent installation in the City Center.
